Floyd Johnson has come on board to serve as the Market Director for the food distribution project into the Chicago area. This is something that MOFC member Floyd Johnson has been working on for quite some time.
We have completed our first season of deliveries and are gearing up for the 2008 season. We have added beef, pork, poultry, cheeses, and Micro Greens in addition to our produce and eggs. Floyd will be working with MOFC growers and buyers to organize a food distribution program into the city of Chicago. If you have produce, meats, dairy, or eggs that you would have available for this program, please give Floyd a call. What is this all about? MOFC is developing a Cooperative Delivery Project (CDP) designed to help small farmers efficiently and cost effectively transport and deliver their products. The initial phase will focus on the Chicago area and the surrounding suburbs. Demand for local organic products outweighs the supply in many urban areas. Implementation of the CDP will allow farmers to deliver their products to a close and convenient location to be shipped to restaurant accounts and Farmers Markets in the Chicago area. If you are interested in learning more about MOFC and the CDP please give Floyd a call. He can be reached at the contact information listed below.
